Nathaniel’s Christian Faith | Protestant Beliefs and Statement of Faith

 

Nathaniel is a devoted Protestant Christian whose faith shapes his daily life, personal values, and relationships. He is actively involved in a local Baptist church in Lloydminster, where he values biblical teaching, prayer, worship, Christian fellowship, and service.

Although Nathaniel’s spiritual roots are firmly grounded in the Baptist tradition, he also has a sincere interest in the wider Christian Church. His friendships with Christians from several denominations have given him a deeper appreciation for the richness of Christian history, worship, and theology. He remains committed to his own convictions while seeking respectful dialogue, meaningful fellowship, and unity among believers.

Nathaniel also finds common ground with principles associated with the Royal Black Institution, a Protestant organization with historic connections to the Orange tradition and origins in Ireland. He is especially drawn to its emphasis on the Protestant Christian faith, loyalty to the British Crown, and the preservation of Protestant heritage and rights.  

Together, these influences have shaped a faith that is both firmly rooted and open-hearted. Nathaniel seeks to remain faithful to Scripture and his Protestant heritage while treating Christians from other traditions with respect and charity. His Baptist church involvement, appreciation for traditional Anglican Catholic teaching, and friendships across denominational lines continue to deepen his understanding of Christianity and strengthen his desire for unity among believers.

 

Nathaniel’s Statement of Faith

 

The Bible

I believe the Holy Bible is the complete, inspired, and authoritative Word of God. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, as originally written, were verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit and are entirely true and without error.

I believe the Bible is the final authority in all matters of Christian faith, doctrine, morality, and daily practice. It is the trustworthy foundation upon which believers should build their lives and the true basis of Christian unity.

 

God

I believe in one true and living God, the holy, sovereign, eternal Creator of all things.

God exists eternally in three co-equal and co-eternal Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each Person is distinct, they are one God in nature, power, glory, and divine purpose.

 

Jesus Christ

I believe in the full and essential deity of Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God.

Jesus Christ existed eternally with the Father before entering the world through His miraculous virgin birth. He lived a completely sinless life and willingly suffered and died as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners.

I believe that Jesus rose bodily from the grave, ascended triumphantly into heaven, and now intercedes on behalf of His people. I also believe that He will personally, bodily, and gloriously return.

 

The Holy Spirit

I believe in the full deity and personhood of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He brings new spiritual life to those who place their faith in Jesus Christ and continues to sanctify, guide, enlighten, comfort, and strengthen every believer.

 

Humanity and Sin

I believe that humanity was created in the image of God and was originally made for fellowship with Him.

Through sin, however, humanity became guilty before God and subject to spiritual and physical death. Sin has affected every part of human nature, leaving mankind totally unable to save itself.

Apart from the grace and mercy of God, humanity is spiritually lost and separated from Him.

 

Salvation

I believe that salvation is a gift of God’s sovereign grace and cannot be earned through human effort, religious observance, or good works.

According to the Father’s eternal plan, Jesus Christ willingly suffered and died as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners. Through His death and bodily resurrection, Christ fully accomplished everything necessary for salvation.

I believe that sinners are justified before God by faith alone in Jesus Christ and His completed work. All who are truly called by God and place their trust in Christ are forgiven, reconciled to God, and preserved by His grace. God will ultimately make every believer complete in the likeness of Christ.

 

The Return of Christ and Final Judgment

I believe in the personal, bodily, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ.

There will be a bodily resurrection of both the just and the unjust. Those who have been redeemed through Christ will enter eternal life and joy in the presence of God. Those who remain unrepentant will face eternal, conscious judgment.

 

The Local Church

I believe that a local church is a gathering of baptized believers who have been called out of the world and united through faith in Jesus Christ.

The local church exists to worship God, teach His Word, build up believers, care for its members, spread the Gospel, and celebrate the sacred practices Christ entrusted to His Church.

I believe each local congregation is accountable to Jesus Christ as its Lord and Head. Its spiritual leadership should be provided by faithful pastors and deacons who meet the biblical qualifications established in Scripture.

 

Baptism and the Holy Eucharist

I believe Baptism and the Holy Eucharist were instituted by Jesus Christ and hold an important place in the worship, fellowship, and spiritual life of the Church.

 

Baptism

I believe baptism is the immersion in water of those who have personally repented of their sins and placed their faith in Jesus Christ.

Baptism is an act of Christian obedience and a public declaration of faith. It symbolizes the believer’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. It also represents the believer’s death to the former way of life and entrance into a new life of discipleship.

Baptism does not earn salvation. Rather, it publicly bears witness to the saving grace that has already been received through faith in Jesus Christ.

 

The Holy Eucharist

I believe the Holy Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion or the Lord’s Supper, is a sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ and a true means of grace. It is more than a symbolic memorial or an ordinary sharing of bread and wine.

Under the outward forms of consecrated bread and wine, Jesus Christ is truly and spiritually present. In the Eucharist, Christ feeds and strengthens the faithful with His Body and Blood, drawing believers into a deeper communion with Himself and with His Church.

I believe the Eucharist is a spiritual sacrifice in which the Church’s worship, praise, and thanksgiving are united with Christ’s one, perfect, and all-sufficient sacrifice upon the Cross. The Eucharist does not repeat, replace, or add to Christ’s completed work. Rather, it sacramentally unites believers with the saving sacrifice He accomplished once for all.

Those who receive Holy Communion with faith, repentance, reverence, and proper spiritual preparation remember and proclaim the Lord’s death, receive His grace and spiritual nourishment, and look forward with hope to His glorious return. 

Nathaniel’s Exploration of Fraternal and Esoteric Traditions

Nathaniel’s Protestant Christian faith remains central to his spiritual life, values, and personal identity. Alongside his involvement in the Christian community, he has also taken an interest in organizations and traditions such as Freemasonry, Odd Fellowship, and Rosicrucianism.

Nathaniel has approached each of these traditions with curiosity, discernment, and an open mind. Rather than assuming that unfamiliar teachings or practices must conflict with his faith, he has sought to understand them through thoughtful study, respectful conversation, and personal experience.

In Nathaniel’s view, his exploration of these organizations has not created a conflict with his Protestant beliefs. Although Freemasonry, Odd Fellowship, and Rosicrucian traditions each have their own histories, rituals, symbols, and philosophies, Nathaniel has found meaningful points of connection with the moral principles he already values as a Christian.

 

Shared Values and Moral Principles

Nathaniel is particularly drawn to the emphasis these traditions place on values such as:

  • Brotherhood and fellowship

  • Charity and service to others

  • Personal responsibility

  • Moral and ethical development

  • Self-examination and personal growth

  • The pursuit of wisdom and truth

For Nathaniel, these principles do not replace the teachings of Christianity or the authority of Scripture. Instead, he sees them as practical values that can complement his commitment to living an honest, charitable, disciplined, and faith-filled life.

His Protestant faith continues to provide the foundation for his understanding of God, salvation, morality, and spiritual truth. His interest in fraternal and philosophical traditions has served as an opportunity to reflect more deeply on his beliefs rather than to abandon or weaken them.

 

Personal Growth and Meaningful Relationships

Nathaniel’s involvement with Freemasonry, Odd Fellowship, and Rosicrucian traditions has introduced him to people from a wide range of religious, cultural, and personal backgrounds. These relationships have encouraged meaningful dialogue and helped him better understand perspectives different from his own.

Through these experiences, Nathaniel has found opportunities to develop greater self-awareness, strengthen his character, serve others, and consider important questions about morality, spirituality, symbolism, and the human search for truth.

He believes that respectful engagement with people from different traditions can deepen understanding without requiring a person to compromise sincerely held religious convictions.

 

Faith, Discernment, and Individual Conviction

Nathaniel recognizes that Christians hold a variety of opinions about Freemasonry, Odd Fellowship, Rosicrucianism, and similar organizations. Some churches and individual believers consider participation compatible with Christian faith, while others express theological or practical concerns.

He respects these differences and understands that each person must examine such questions carefully according to Scripture, conscience, prayer, and personal conviction.

Nathaniel does not present his experience as a universal conclusion for every Christian. His perspective reflects his own spiritual journey and the way he has personally understood and approached these traditions.

For Nathaniel, it has been possible to explore fraternal and philosophical organizations while remaining firmly committed to his Protestant faith. He believes these experiences have broadened his understanding, strengthened meaningful relationships, encouraged personal growth, and added depth to his continuing spiritual journey.
